I’m Liz, the maker behind Livicraft, creating handmade fused glass jewellery and glass art from my home studio in Devon.
What started as a hobby making jewellery from beads and Art Clay Silver gradually developed into a passion for working with glass. I began creating fused glass jewellery and, with the arrival of a larger kiln, I was able to experiment with making larger pieces of fused glass art too.
Each piece is handcrafted by me, from cutting and arranging the glass through to kiln firing. I work with Dichroic glass and Bullseye glass to create colourful and individual designs, using .925 sterling silver or silver-plated fittings where appropriate, as detailed in each product description. The glass I use is specially designed for artists and offers a wonderful range of colours, textures and effects.
Every piece is unique. Although some designs may look similar, the nature of fused glass means that no two pieces will ever be exactly the same. The way the glass moves and changes during firing is part of what makes working with fused glass so fascinating, and I love seeing how each piece develops in the kiln.
Dichroic glass can be particularly difficult to photograph because its colours and reflections can change depending on the direction, source and quality of the light. Your computer or phone screen can also affect how the colours appear. I always try to photograph my work as accurately as possible, but the glass is often even more beautiful when you see it in person.
